How to remove icons from status bar in Android

Whenever you, say, set an alarm or connect to WiFi on your Android phone, a corresponding icon appears in the status bar.

Have you ever felt like removing any of these icons, but couldn't do so because of lack of knowledge on how to go about doing it? If that's the case, then you've come to the correct place as in this tutorial, we will be discussing exactly that.

But before we do that, it's worth mentioning that all the instructions mentioned here have been tested on a Nexus 5 smartphone running Android 6.0.1.

Remove status bar icons in Marshmallow

In case you are wondering how difficult the whole process would be, let me assure you it's not at all complex. The first step is to enable the 'System UI Tuner' settings option - that's explained in detail here.

Once the setting is enabled, open it and you'll see the following menu of options:

Tap the 'Status bar' option, and you'll get the complete list of features enabled to show icons on the status bar.

As is obvious, use the slider corresponding to the feature/functionality whose icon you don't want to see in your phone's status bar. And needless to say, whenever you want to revert any of the changes, just come back to this menu again, and do the needful.
