Fix for Microsoft Exchange Server: localhost currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500.

After installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2016, when you login to Exchange admin center in Microsoft Exchange Server 2016, you may get the following error.

Microsoft Exchange Server: localhost currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500.

Solution:

  1. Turn off the firewall.
  2. Open control panel -> System and Security -> Windows Firewall -> Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
  3. Make sure all Exchange Server related services are running.
  4. Open Run -> type services.msc -> hit enter from the keyboard.
