Windows 10 offers quite a few enhancements to its predecessor and these are the latest space settings that give users comprehensive knowledge of when and how much their storage space is being used. Windows 8.1 has not done a very comprehensive job. Indeed, while it provided some details, the only control it gave over the consumption of disk space was the ability to uninstall the Windows Store app, which to be honest never really consumed that much disk space first. To use Windows 10’s storage settings to save hard drive storage, follow this procedure step by step.

Click the Search button on the taskbar. Type Settings in the search box and then click the Settings option as the following image is showing.

As soon as you click the Settings option, the Windows Settings screen will appear as the following image is showing.

Click the System option as highlighted in the above image. As you click the System option, the following screen will appear in front of you.

As you can see that the screen is divided into two parts. Choose the Storage option from the left side of the screen as highlighted in the above image. The right side of the screen will appear as the following image is showing.

Here you can see the consumed and free space of each partition. Click on any partition to see the further division of storage. When you will click on a partition, the following screen will appear.

Click on any application and then click the Uninstall button to free some space on the hard drive as highlighted in the above image. By clicking on the Manage optional features, you can check which optional features are installed on your computer as the following image is showing.

As soon as you click the Manage optional features option, the following screen will appear.

This will show you the list of programs. You can choose any of them which is not in use. Then click the Uninstall button to free some space.
