Eventually, Windows 10 presents a central location for alerts and quick actions to work with the Action Center. Windows notifications have been a joke for the longest period of time. There was no way to see expired notifications that you might have missed even in Windows 8, which finally provided toast notifications that could pop up and then expire. Windows 10 solves this with the Action Center, a slide-out panel that groups and shows notifications, as well as providing quick access to actions such as Wi-Fi, Quiet hours, and night light. In this article, we will guide you through the whole procedure to use Windows 10 Action Center and configure it.

Use Windows 10 Action Center and configure it

Windows 10 action center includes the following actions:

  • See Action Center Notifications
  • Clear Action Center Alerts
  • Modify Notifications
  • Personalize the buttons for quick action

Here is the procedure for all actions.

See Action Center Notifications

Any notification will appear on the right corner of the screen. When there is a new notification, the action center button turns white as highlighted in the below image.

When there is no notification, the action center button will be blank as follows:

To view the notifications in Action Center which you have missed, click the Action Center button. A menu of notifications will be displayed on the right side of the screen as follows:

You can click on the notification to see it in detail.

Clear Action Center Alerts

Click the action center button at the right corner of the screen as follows:

The notification panel will open. Hover on any notification and click the X button to clear one notification as the following image is showing:

To clear the notification of one whole application, hover on the application name. Click the X button as highlighted in the below image.

You can also clear the notifications by clicking on clear all notifications as the following image is showing.

Modify Notifications

To customize the notifications, follow this procedure step by step:

Click the Search button. Type Settings in the search bar and select the option as the following image is showing.

As soon as you will choose the Settings option, the following screen will appear:

Select the System option from the Windows Settings as highlighted in the above image. As you will choose the System option, the following screen will appear:

As you can see that the screen is divided into two parts. Choose the Notifications & actions from the left side of the screen as highlighted in the above image. As you will choose the option, the following screen will appear:

Here you can turn on or off toggle buttons to get notifications as per your choice. You will only get those notifications for which you will turn on the toggle buttons.

Scroll down the screen and following options will appear:

Here you can turn on or off the notifications from different applications. Only those applications will show the notifications for which you will turn on the toggle button. Further customization of notifications can be done by clicking on the application as follows:

As soon as you will click on any application, the following screen will appear:

Personalize the buttons for quick action

To personalize the buttons for quick action, follow this procedure step by step:

Click the Search button. Type Settings in the search bar and select the option as the following image is showing.

As soon as you will choose the Settings option, the following screen will appear:

Select the System option from the Windows Settings as highlighted in the above image. As you will choose the System option, the following screen will appear:

As you can see that the screen is divided into two parts. Choose the Notifications & actions from the left side of the screen as highlighted in the above image. As you will choose the option, the following screen will appear:

Drag any quick action button to change the arrangement as highlighted in the above image. Click the Add or remove quick actions option and the following screen will appear:

Here you have the choice which quick action button you want. Turn off the toggle button which you don’t want in quick action as highlighted in the above image.
