The Focus Assist feature in Windows 10 is also known as the do not disturb mode. Whenever we are working in Windows 10, it keeps on notifying us about the occurrence of any important events. Sometimes, these notifications are of secondary importance and you do not want them to bother you while you are busy doing something more important. Focus Assist helps you in accomplishing this task in Windows 10. After enabling it, you can restrict the unimportant notifications to annoy you. Using the Focus Assist or Do Not Disturb Mode in Windows 10

Method # 1: Enable Focus Assist through the Notifications icon

In this method, we will tell you how you can use Focus Assist through the Notifications icon located on your taskbar. For doing this, you will need to perform the following steps:

  • Right click on the Notifications icon located at the extreme right of your taskbar in order to launch a cascading menu as shown in the following image:
  • Click on the Focus Assist option from the cascading menu and then click on the “Off” option from the sub-cascading menu in order to enable Focus Assist.
  • If you want to receive some specific notifications while the Focus Assist is enabled, like priority events or alarms, then you can select these options too from the sub-cascading menu.

Method # 2: Enable Focus Assist through the Action Center

In this method, we will tell you how you can use Focus Assist through the Action Center in Windows 10. For doing this, you will need to perform the following steps:

  • Click on the Notifications icon located at the extreme right of your taskbar in order to launch the Action Center as shown in the following image:
  • From the Action Center, click on the Focus Assist tile to enable it as highlighted in the image shown above.

Method # 3: Enable Focus Assist through the Settings application

In this method, we will tell you how you can use Focus Assist through the Settings application in Windows 10. For doing this, you will need to perform the following steps:

  • Type settings in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch the settings window. The newly opened Settings window is shown in the following image:
  • Click on the System tab as highlighted in the image shown above.
  • Now click on the Focus Assist tab as shown in the image below:
  • Select the radio button corresponding to the fields of Priority Only or Alarms Only in order to enable Focus Assist in Windows 10 as highlighted in the following image:
  • You can also enable or disable the Automatic Rules by turning the toggle buttons corresponding to the respective rules to the “on” or “off” state as highlighted in the image shown below:
