Microsoft is the world’s largest software company for mobile operating systems with a market share greater than any other desktop operating system in the world. Microsoft’s latest version of Windows OS is Windows 10 and it’s certainly making its way into a highly competitive marketplace. For previous versions of Windows except Windows 8, accessing the Safe mode was much simpler compared to later builds e.g. Windows 8 or Windows 10. In this article, we will guide you through the different methods to launch Windows 10 in safe mode.

Boot Windows 10 in safe mode

To launch Windows 10 in safe mode, follow any of these procedures step by step.

Method #1

Click the Search button on the taskbar. Type Run in the search box and then click the Run option as the following image is showing.

As soon as you click the Run option, the following dialogue box will appear.

Type msconfig in the Open textbox and then click the OK button as highlighted in the above image. When you will click the OK button, the following dialogue box will appear.

Click the Boot tab. Then choose the Operating system and check the Safe boot checkbox. After that, click the Apply and then the OK button as highlighted in the above image.

Method #2

Click the Search button on the taskbar. Type Recovery Drive in the search box and then click the Recovery Drive option as the following image is showing.

As you click the Recovery Drive option, the following screen will appear.

Check the Backup system files to the recovery drive checkbox. Then click the Next button after connecting the USB as highlighted in the above image.

Method #3

Click the Search button on the taskbar. Type Command Prompt in the search box and choose the Command Prompt. Right click on the Command Prompt and then click the Run as administrator option as the following image is showing.

As you click the Run as administrator option, the following screen will appear.

Type bcedit in the Command Prompt editor and then press the Enter key. The following screen will appear.

The default should be set to current as highlighted in the above image. To run the Windows 10 in a safe mode, type the following command in the Command Prompt editor.

bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal

The following screen will appear.
