Enable Logon Audit

Click the Search button. Type Run in the search box and then click the Run option as the following image is showing.

As soon as you click the Run option, the following dialogue box will appear.

Type gpedit.msc in the Open textbox and then click the OK button as highlighted in the above image. The Local Group Policy Editor screen will appear as follows.

Navigate through the following path from the left pane of the screen.

Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Audit Policy

As you click the Audit Policy option from the left pane of the screen, the right pane shows various options. Double click the Audit logon events option as highlighted in the above image. After this, the following dialogue box will appear.

Check both checkboxes Success and Failure. After that click the Apply and then OK button as highlighted in the above image. Close the Local Group Policy Editor.

View Logon Events

Click the Search button. Type Event Viewer in the search box and then click the Event Viewer option as the following image is showing.

As you click the Event Viewer option, the following screen will appear.

Navigate through the following path from the left pane of the screen.

Event Viewer (Local) -> Windows Logs -> Security

As you click the Security option from the left pane of the screen, the right pane of the screen will show Audit Success events as highlighted in the above image. Double click on any event to view its further detail. The detailed windows will show as follows.
