Most PC users feel that Windows 10 is unable to scan file contents and that it can only be used by the Microsoft Office. Nonetheless, the fact is that file content can be searched using the search menu Start. And if you wonder why the content of files cannot be searched, this is because the ability to locate text in files is deactivated by default. Search for files by content in Windows 10 (Fulltext Search)

To search through file contents in Windows 10, follow this procedure step by step:

Click the Search button. Type Indexing Options in the search bar and select the option as the following image is showing:

As you will select the option named Indexing Options, the following screen will appear:

Now click the button named Advanced, as the above image is indicating. As soon as you will click the Advanced button, the following dialogue box will appear:

Select the tab named File Types. After that check the box named Index Properties and File Contents and Click OK button. As the above image is indicating.

As soon as you will click the OK button, the following alert box will appear:

Rebuild Index

As you will click the OK button, rebuilding will be started. It might take the number of hours. But after completion of rebuilding you will be able to search file content through search bar as follows:
