All of us know that the default storage drive of Windows 10 or any other operating system is the C drive and all the applications that we install on Windows 10 go straight to the C drive by default. However, we can change this installation location by either using the other hard drive or an external drive. In this article, we will explain to you the method through which you can install Windows 10 apps to an external or second drive.
Installing Windows 10 Apps to an External or Second Drive
In order to install Windows 10 apps to an external or second drive, you will need to perform the following steps:
Type settings in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch the settings window. The newly opened Settings window is shown in the following image:
Click on the System tab as highlighted in the image shown above.
In the System Settings window, click on the Storage tab as highlighted in the image shown below:
Now click on the link saying, “Change where new content is saved” as highlighted in the following image:
Click on the dropdown list corresponding to the field saying, “New apps will save to” in order to expand it as shown in the image below:
Now select any of the available drives other than the default C drive from the dropdown list in order to install Windows 10 apps to an external or second drive as highlighted in the image shown above.
By following the method discussed in this article, you can easily prevent the apps from installing to the C drive in Windows 10 and choose another location for their storage instead.
