Finding Saved Wi-Fi Passwords in Windows 10
For finding the saved Wi-Fi passwords in Windows 10, you can make use of any of the two methods listed below:
Method # 1 (For Finding the Password of the Current Wi-Fi)
For finding the password of the current Wi-Fi, you need to proceed as follows:
Type control panel in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search results to launch the control panel window. It is shown in the following image:
Now click on Network and Internet tab. It is shown in the image below:
Click on Network and Sharing Center and then click on the active Wi-Fi connection as shown in the image below:
A Wi-Fi status window will pop up which is shown in the image below:
From the window shown above, click on Wireless Properties. The Wireless Properties window is shown in the image below:
Now click on the Security tab as shown in the following image:
Now click on the checkbox saying, “Show characters” to display the password of your current Wi-Fi.
Method # 2 (For Finding Passwords of all the Saved Wi-Fi Networks)
For finding the passwords of all the saved Wi-Fi networks, you need to use a windows command. For this, you need to proceed as follows:
Type cmd in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search results to launch the command prompt.
Now type the command:
netsh wlan show profiles
in your command prompt and press enter to see all the Wi-Fi network names. It is shown in the following image:
Now run the command:
netsh wlan show profile name=X key=clear
in your command prompt and press enter to reveal the password corresponding to “X”. You should replace “X” with the name of the Wi-Fi network whose password you want to find out. In this example, I will reveal the password corresponding to …… Wi-Fi and hence my command will be, netsh wlan show profile name=…… key=clear. This command along with the password of …… written in front of the Key Content field is highlighted in the following image:
