In Windows 10, some features help you a lot in accomplishing your daily routine tasks. However, on the same side, some features are there just to make your environment look a little catchy and trendy. For instance, you can make your Windows 10 to display a dark theme instead of the regular theme at night automatically. By enabling this feature, you will be able to know what time of the day it is without even looking at the actual clock. Now how can we enable dark theme at night is the question under discussion. In this article, we will explain you the method through which you can enable a dark theme at night automatically using Windows 10.

For performing this action, you need to proceed as follows:

First, we will create a task, which we can schedule at the time of night. For this, we will need to launch the task scheduler. Just type Task Scheduler in the search section of your taskbar and click on the result displayed on the cascading menu as shown below:

As soon as you will click on the result, a new Task Scheduler window will pop up on the screen. It is shown in the image below:

Now click on the action tab shown at the top. A menu will appear from which you need to select Create Basic Task.

A dialogue box will appear asking you to write the name of the newly created task. You can write any name of your choice and click next. In this example, I have named the task as “Enable Dark Theme at Night.” It is shown below:

When you will press enter, the task scheduler will ask you to give the frequency of occurrence of the newly created task. Select daily frequency to enable the dark theme at night on daily basis and then click next to continue.

The next window will ask you to set a time at which you want to get your task scheduled. You can give any time of your choice. In this example, I have set the time to 8:00 p.m., which means that every day at 8 p.m. a dark theme will automatically be enabled on my Windows 10.

From the window shown in the image below, select the action “Start a program” and then click next.

Now you need to type “reg” in the Program/ Script textbox, add the following line in Add arguments textbox and click next.

From the window shown in the image below, tick the checkbox saying, “Open the properties dialogue for this task when I click finish” and then click finish.

Now click on the Conditions tab shown at the top of this window.

In the image shown above, uncheck the option of “Start the task only if the computer is on AC power”. It will ensure that your task will run even if you are using battery power.

Now click on Settings tab shown at the top of the same window. The settings screen is shown below:

In the window shown above, tick the checkbox saying, “Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed.” This will ensure that your task will run soon after being in sleep state or update state.

Now click OK to finish.

When you will click OK, it will redirect you to the following screen.

You can find your newly created task by clicking on the Task Scheduler Library located at the left of the window. It is shown in the image below:

For checking if your created task is working properly or not, just right click on your task and from the menu appeared, select Run. As soon as you will click run, a dark theme will automatically appear on your screen.

You can create a number of different other tasks by following the same method. The only thing that you need to decide is the time of trigger for these tasks and you are all set to go. These settings will be saved on your PC unless you delete these tasks from the Task Scheduler Library.
