In Windows Explorer, the Auto-Suggest function recommends paths you have previously followed in an auto-complete sort fashion, while it can be very effective, it can also be annoying. In this article, we will guide you through the whole procedure to disable the Windows 10 Explorer Auto suggest feature.
Disable the Windows 10 Explorer Auto-suggest feature
To change the Windows 10 Explorer Auto-suggest feature, follow this procedure step by step.
Click the Search button on the taskbar. Type Run within the search box then click the Run option such as the following image is showing.
As soon as you click the Run option, the subsequent dialogue box will appear.
Type Regedit within the Open textbox then click the OK button as highlighted within the above image. As you click the OK button, the Registry Editor screen will appear as the following image is showing.
Now navigate through the following path from the left side of the screen.
As you click the TypedPaths option from the left side of the screen, the right side will show some URLs option as the following image is showing.
Now right-click on any path and click the Delete option as the following image is showing.
Now, this path will not auto-suggest.
Open the Registry Editor. Navigate to the following path from the left side of the screen.
Right click on the Explorer option, a menu will open. Select the New -> Key option from the appeared menu as the following image is showing.
Rename this key as AutoComplete. Then right click on this newly created key and select the New -> String Value option as the following image is showing.
Rename this string value as AutoSuggest as the following image is showing.
Double click on the AutoSuggest value and the following dialogue box will appear.
Put no in the Value data textbox and then click the OK button as highlighted in the above image.
By following any of these procedures, you will be able to change the Windows 10 Explorer Auto Suggest feature.
