Remote Assistance in Windows 10 allows others to remotely connect with your computer and take control of everything. It may appear as if they are directly accessing the PC.

It could be helpful if your system got problems and you want someone to provide remote support and troubleshoot the problem. You can let him full access so that he can resolve the issue. It is also helpful if you are on a remote location or in an office, and want to access your home PC.

Although it is a useful feature, it makes your system vulnerable to attacks so it is recommended to keep disabled the feature until you need it.

Remote assistance feature is enabled by default on Windows operating systems. Here are two ways you can use to disable the Remote Assistance feature.

Method #1: Using Control Panel

You can use the Control Panel to disable Remote Assistance feature in your windows 10 computer. To begin with:

Type control panel in the search bar of your computer and from the search results, select Control Panel application.

From the left side of the window, click on Remote Settings.

That will launch the System Properties dialog box.

From the Remote tab, uncheck the box Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer. It will disable remote assistance feature on your system. Then click on Apply and then OK.

Method #2: Using Registry Editor

Alternatively, you can also use Registry Editor to disable Remote Assistance feature.

Press Windows key+R to open Run utility.

Type regedit.exe in the search bar of Run utility and press Enter to open registry editor.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Remote

Assistance. Alternatively, you can also copy and paste this address in the address bar of Registry Editor window.

From the right pane, double-click the DWORD entry fAllowToGetHelp. In the value data field, set the value to 0 to disable remote assistance. And click OK.

When you are done, close the Registry Editor window.

That is all you need to disable Remote Assistance feature. Next time if you need remote support, just re-enable the feature by repeating the above steps, and check the box beside Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer. While in the Registry Editor, change the value from 1 to re-enable the feature.
