Windows has a lot of advertisements built-in. This is not just about the free update offer, you will see the advertisement in your software even if you buy a new PC that arrives with a Windows 10 certificate or invests $200 on a version of Windows 10 professional. However, you can block a lot of it. In this article, we will guide you through the whole procedure to disable all of the built-in Windows 10 ads.

Disable all of the built-in Windows 10 ads

To disable all of the built-in Windows 10 ads, follow this procedure step by step:

Lock Screen ads

Click the Search button. Type Settings in the search bar and select the option as the following image is showing:

The following screen will appear by clicking on Settings:

Now choose the Personalization option as highlighted in the above image. As soon as you will choose the Personalization option, the following screen will appear:

As you can see that the screen is divided into two parts. Select the Lock screen option from the left side of the screen as the above image is indicating. After clicking on the Lock screen option, the following screen will appear:

Disable ads in lock screen

Now choose the Picture or Slideshow from the Background drop down. Turn off the toggle button named Get fun facts, tips, and more from Windows and Cortana on your lock screen. Ads from the lock screen will be disabled.

Disable Recommended Apps from the Start Menu

Choose the Start option from the left side of the screen like this:

As soon as you will click the Start option, the following screen will appear:

To disable the apps from the Start menu, turn the toggle button named Show suggestions occasionally in Start off as highlighted in the above image.

Disable pop-ups from the notification area

Click the Search button. Type Settings in the search bar and select the option as the following image is showing:

The following screen will appear by clicking on Settings:

System settings

Choose the System option from the Windows Settings screen as highlighted in the above image. As soon as you will select the System option, the following screen will appear:

As you can see that the screen is divided into two parts. Select the Notifications & actions option from the left side of the screen as highlighted in the above image. After clicking the option, the following screen will appear:

Disable Windows suggestions

Now turn the toggle button named Get tips, tricks and suggestions as you use Windows off in order to disable ads.

Avoid advertisements from popping up in Notification area

On the same screen of Notifications & action, turn off the toggle button named Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what’s new and suggested.

Disable suggestions and highlights

Avoid Cortana from the Taskbar bouncing

Click the Cortana icon on the taskbar and choose Settings button like this:

As soon as you will click the Settings button, the following screen will appear:

To disable the Cortana ads, turn off the toggle button named Let Cortana pipe up from time to time with thoughts, greetings, and notifications in the Search box as highlighted in the above image.

Disable advertisements from File Explorer

Open the File Explorer and choose View tab like this:

As soon as you will click the View tab, the following pane will display:

Click the Options menu as highlighted in the above image. After clicking the Options menu, the following dialogue box will appear:

Choose the View tab from the dialogue box as highlighted in the above image. The following options will appear:

Show sync provider notifications

Uncheck the checkbox named Show sync provider notifications to disable the advertisements. Then click the Apply and OK button.

Deactivate Live Tiles

To deactivate app advertisements from Windows Store:

Right-click the Windows Store icon as follows:

As you will right-click the Windows Store icon, choose More -> Turn Live Tile off as highlighted in the above image.

Disable ads from Windows Ink Workspace

Click the Search button. Type Settings in the search bar and select the option as the following image is showing:

The following screen will appear by clicking on Settings:

Choose the Devices option from the Windows Settings screen as highlighted in the above image. As soon as you will click the Devices option, the following screen will appear:

Pen and Windows Ink

As you can see that the screen is divided into two parts. Select the Pen & Windows Ink from the left side of the screen as above is indicating. To disable ads, uncheck the checkbox named Show recommended apps suggestions as follows:
