In order to change or rename the active network profile name in Windows 10, you will need to perform the following steps:

Type regedit in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch the registry editor window. The newly opened Registry Editor window is shown in the following image:

Now copy and paste the following path in the address bar of your Registry Editor window:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ NetworkList\Profiles

This path is also highlighted in the image shown below:

Click on any of the sub-folders under the Profiles folder in order to view its contents as highlighted in the following image:

Keep on exploring these folders until you find the profile whose name you want to modify. In this example, I want to modify the name that corresponds to the profile “Miss WiFi”. So, I will explore each folder one by one in order to find the said profile name as shown in the image below:

Once you manage to find the desired profile, double click on the ProfileName field in order to modify it as highlighted in the image shown above.

As soon as you will double click on the ProfileName field, the Edit String dialogue box will appear on your screen as shown in the following image:

Now type any name of your choice in the textbox corresponding to the field of Value Data as highlighted in the image shown below:

Finally, click on the OK button in order to save your settings as highlighted in the image shown above.
