Windows 10 has come up with several exciting and fun-filled features but there are some basic features about which everyone needs to know before getting started with Windows 10. In this article, we will walk you through all those necessary features that you will need to use while performing your routine tasks in Windows 10.

Using Windows 10

There are various basic features in Windows 10 about which you need to know well before experiencing the true flavor of Windows 10 and we will discuss all such features one by one. In order to use Windows 10, you will need to perform the following steps:

When you log into Windows 10, the very first thing that grasps your attention on the taskbar is the Window icon. Just click on the Window icon located at the extreme left corner of your taskbar in order to launch the Start menu. The newly launched Start menu is shown in the following image:

In order to launch an application through the Start menu, just locate that application and click on it as highlighted in the image shown above.

You can also increase or decrease the size of your start menu simply by clicking on the top right corner of the menu and then dragging it towards inside or outside depending upon your own choice.

If you want to see the Start menu options, then click on the three bars or navigation drawer located at the top left corner of the Start menu as highlighted in the image shown below:

In order to configure the settings of Windows 10, just click on the Settings icon located on the Start menu as highlighted in the following image:

As soon as you will click on this icon, you will be redirected to the Settings application of Windows 10 as shown in the image below:

Here you can click on any tab depending upon the type of settings that you want to configure.

If you want to use any built-in application of Windows 10, just type its name in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch that application. Alternatively, you can also double-click on the shortcut icon of that app if it is located somewhere on your taskbar or desktop in order to launch it. In this example, I will launch the Paint application as shown in the following image:

You can also install new applications of your choice in Windows 10. For doing this, click on the Window icon located at the extreme left corner of your taskbar in order to launch the Start menu as shown in the image below:

Now click on the Microsoft Store tile as highlighted in the image shown above in order to launch the Microsoft Store window as shown in the following image:

Click on the Apps tab as highlighted in the image shown above.

Now you can either search for your desired application by typing its name in the search bar or you can click on the Top Apps tab as highlighted in the image shown below:

As soon as you will click on it, you will be presented with a list of multiple different apps.

Just click on the application that you want to install as highlighted in the image shown above.

Finally, click on the Get button in order to install your desired application from the Microsoft Store as highlighted in the following image:

If you want to view all the applications that you are currently using on the same page, then you will need to click on the task view icon located towards the right side of the search section of your taskbar. As soon as you will click on it, you will be able to view all your currently opened apps together as shown in the image below:

In order to manage different files in Windows 10, you will need to go to the File Explorer. For doing that, type file explorer in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch the file explorer window. The newly opened File Explorer window is shown in the following image:

If you want to create a sub-folder inside an already existing folder, then right-click on the already existing folder in order to launch a cascading menu as shown in the image below:

Click on the New option from the cascading menu and then click on the Folder option from the sub-cascading menu as highlighted in the image shown above.

You can also create a new file in the very same manner as discussed above and after creating a file, you can name it according to your own choice. You can also choose to delete a file by right-clicking on the desired file and then selecting the Delete option from the cascading menu as highlighted in the following image:

Another important feature of Windows 10 is the Action Center and you can access it by clicking on the Notifications icon located at the extreme right corner of your taskbar. The Action Center is shown in the image below:

Here you can view the Quick Action Buttons and all your notifications as highlighted in the image shown above.

If you want to uninstall an application, just click on the Window icon located on your taskbar in order to launch the Start menu. Locate your desired app, right click on it and then select the Uninstall option from the cascading menu in order to uninstall that app as highlighted in the following image:

Finally, if you want to sleep, shut down or restart your computer system, then click on the power icon located on your start menu and then choose your desired operation as highlighted in the following image:
